Has Hail Damaged Your Roof?
After a hail storm, it’s vital that you inspect your roof to look for damages. Some issues will be obvious, however, others will need to be found after a careful inspection. Use our handy list to check your roof for damage after a storm.
- Look for dents: Check the metal flashings, vents, and valleys on your roof for dents. If there are dents in the metal parts of your roof, it is a good indication that there may be other damages.
- Look for bruised shingles: Bruised shingles are weaker and may allow water to leak in. On asphalt shingles look for black areas that are soft to the touch.
- Check your gutters: Look for granules in your gutters. If your asphalt shingles were subjected to serious bruising from large hail, they will lose granules. Once your shingles lose granules, they are less waterproof and can lead to future damage of your roof.
